Bridal Portraits are NOT just a Southern Thing.
A Bridal Session with Rainy Day Photos is a great way to spend a little more time with your photographer. Everyone gets more and more comfortable with people they spend time with, and spending time with your photographer is no different. Being able to talk to your photographer is key in getting the most out of your photographs. We always like to hear what you like and don’t like, and how comfortable you are in front of the camera.
In many instances, this will be the first time you have had portraits done by anyone outside of your family, and it can be a little intimidating. With RDP as your photographer, you don’t have to worry, we are easy going and fun to work with, which in turn, makes it easy for your personality to shine through.
Bridal Portraits were traditionally meant to be family heirlooms, photos that will be passed down for generations to come.
These days, brides will use these portraits to display at their wedding reception, allowing everyone you have invited to your day, to appreciate the time and effort you put into finding the perfect dress and accessories.
Parents, grandparents and family members will cherish these photos as a way to remember one of the most important days of your life.
Your new husband will love the WOW factor of being able to show off his new bride.
The best time to have your portraits done, would be just before your final fitting of your dress. Many bridal salons will clean and steam your dress after the final alterations.
Doing your session during this time, allows you to move, sit, twist, dance, play, making sure of proper fit, buttons are easy to use, zippers do not stick, and snaps are sewn on tightly, and hems are straight and fall exactly as you wish them too.
It has often been our experience that these little things can cause a bride undue stress an hour before the wedding if they do not work properly.
Important things to remember on your Bridal Portrait Day:
Bring along your best friend, your mom, your maid of honor. Someone needs to be there to help you in and out of your dress and help you carry everything you need for the session. Often RDP brings on location lighting so we have our hands full.
If you are concerned over getting your dress dirty, let us know and we will bring a sheet or piece of plastic to protect your gown. Most bridal salons will offer to do a cleaning of your dress prior to your wedding day.
Bring a pair of flat shoes for walking! While I love love love great shoes with your dress, getting from point A to point B in heels can be difficult. If we are planning on doing a lot of walking, such as a downtown location, comfortable shoes are a must.
And remember, we are going to have fun. Watch some episodes of America’s Next Top Model and be ready to get flirty, fun, and fabulous!
