Cancun Wedding Reception – Abbey and Max FUN!

I have to say, that honestly…this was the most acrobatic, energetic, full of fun reception ever. Abbey and Max were married in Playa del Carmen, basically, Cancun. I have blogged earlier parts of their wedding, and was just reminiscing this week about how much fun we had. The other thing that brought their wedding to mind, was that Abbey was just accepted in the Cirque de Soleil!! How exciting is that! This wedding and reception was filled with all kinds of athletes – Abbey and Max were both graduates of the University of Maryland, where Abbey competed gymnastics and Max was a star LaCrosse player. I think everyone in the wedding party was on the teams. You can see from the photos – everyone had a REALLY good time!

Engagement Photos with Katy and Casey – all over Downtown and the Galleria Area

On the mission to continue to be caught up…it is time for Katy and Casey to take the spotlight. We travelled all over the Galleria and Discovery Green area for these engagement photos. We actuallly split this into two different sessions, sometimes it just works that way.

Messina Hof Winery Wedding, Bryan Texas – Christine and Bryan

So…to follow up Christine and Bryan’s Engagement Photos – please see what a GREAT TIME everyone had at the Messina Hof Winery in the Bryan College Station Area, TX. It was a bit of a drive, but well worth it. The vines were not quite lush as you might expect, the great Texas drought was just starting to wind up, ie, windy and dry!

The winery was very cool though – we snuck Christine away to get some photos in front of the stained glass windows inside the resturant part of the winery, where they have barrels stacked upon stacks.

The rose trellis at the outdoor gazebo was in FULL bloom – and everyone knows how much I love flowers…there were also some great iris’s in bloom as well. The wedding went far into the night, a good time was had by all.

Downtown Houston Engagement Session – Christine and Bryan

I am still in blog catch up mode – so I am committed to getting this done. Christine and Bryan wanted something urban, something different, and actually had their roadmap all planned out before I even asked. We started at the Graffiti Wall on Elgin, then to Eleanor Tinsley Park. From there we headed over to the Our lady of Guadalupe Church, which by the way, just celebrated their Centenniel! It also happened to be where Bryan’s parents were married. We could not go in as there was a ceremony actually in progress, but we did manage to get a few photos without disturbing anyone. It had started to get dark by this point, which is exactly how we planned it. We did a few down by the historical district downtown, then headed to the Sabine Street Bridge – this time, only ONE wrong turn. I am not going to lie…I am directionly challenged, and have driven around over 30 minutes looking for this bridge! I won’t lose it again.

One of the perks of photographing all over Houston, is you get to see some really cool places and people.

I am always trying to get caught up on the blog – at least I think about it often. I figured the only way to do that was to actually quit thinking about it and just do it. I believe there was a famous shoe commercial that said the same thing. Ya.

Shellie and Matt were married at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in downtown Houston. Being a houston wedding photographer who lives in spring, means I get to travel all over town for weddings, occassionally there will be one in Spring, but not often. The church was absolutely magnificent, one of the oldest in Houston. You can tell by all of the wood, especially in the ceilings.

Shellie and Matt’s wedding was really fantastic. One of her bridesmaids actually MADE her dress! It looked fantastic on her. Matt had a best “girl”, which was a first, for me anyway. St. Paul’s has a pretty restrictive policy regarding wedding photography, you are only allowed to photograph from the balcony and absolutely no flash photography inside the sanctuary. It was all good though, we used some fast glass with a great zoom, and were able to get all of the action.

Their reception was at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, downtown. They started with their toasts and first dance, and then everyone participated in a Grand March. For those of you that don’t know, a Grand March is a Czech tradition. It begins with the couple dancing underneath arched arms, the last people in the line, follow, and so on and so on. It’s a lot of fun and gets everyone up on the dance floor. There was some REALLY acrobatic dancing! They ended their evening with a bubble exit and paused for just a second…for the photo on the stairway.

Abigail and Max – Part 2 – In Honor of the Houston Reception October 29 Champion Forest Baptist Church

Thought I should get this done before too much time passes…lots of blog items to be caught up on.

Who could have ordered up a more fantastic day…but you know who himself.

Everything about this ceremony was special – including the minister. He happens to be Abigails’ brother, there he is standing with the groom as we are about to start.
Everyone was waiting with baited breath for Abbey to arrive – if you could actually touch something called special, you would have felt it here.

Abigail and her father, John as he is escorting her to her husband to be. You can only imagine what they may have been talking about at this moment. The entire beach full of travellers stopped to watch this special day.

The exchange of the rings..and a special prayer, and new bonds with family.

I always get emotional at weddings, although I seldom cry..but I did at this one. I have known this family for years, and to watch the baby of the family get married and actually being there to photograph it was something I will treasure always.

Abigail and Max – Cancun part 1

Hey all – I know it’s way past time to update, there’s always so much to blog, and not enough writing power to back that up!! I had an idea, that I should let the people that are IN the photos do the talking..maybe I can get a few to volunteer.

So, this is Abigail and Max’s Wedding (part 1) which took place on August 13th in Puerto Morales Mexico, just outside of Cancun. Abigail and Max met in college at the University of Maryland their junior year and from the stories I have heard, fell instantly in love. Their engagement photos were done in Maryland by Kristen Leigh Photography just before they graduated – you can view them by using the link.

Abbey and Max decided to have a destination wedding, and after searching locations, they decided on Azul Beach Resort. This turned out to be such a fantastic place for a wedding.

Some detail shots from Abbey’s party the night beofre, the detail on her dress and these really cool sunglasses they gave to everyone. Those came in super handy!

At RDP, we LOVE ring photos.

This was a huge group of guys and girls. Abigail was on the Maryland Gymnastics Team and Max played Lacrosse for Maryland as well. They brought a lot of teammates with them for the wedding, and a few close family and friends, with 55 people making the trip down.

Abbey’s sister Lynsey took on the role of coordinator AND creative designer, she was the hair and make up artist, decorator, and matron of honor. Abbey’s brother Austin is a student pastor at the Woodlands Church Northwest and served as official minister.

These are just the first part of Abbey and Max’s day – there are so many wonderful photos I just can’t choose, so I’ll be blogging their wedding in 4 parts. One thing Abbey was definite about…she definitely wanted some fun group photos. Mission accomplished.
